We have the standard 3 way fridge in our Pullman and find it too small to take the meat, fruit and veg and other perishables like wine and beer.

Your question prompts me to explore the purchase of an electric coolbox (it would also be usefull in the garden) as we have loads of room in the fc since I removed the wardrobe.

i cant vouch for three way fridges, as ive never had the pleasure

but our campinggaz electric cool box is very good,we leave ours on all the time as the fan part is very quiet. It is usual to find a layer of ice/frost on the bottom of the box and ive even had ice crystals in the milk!

the other thing i like about this box is that it comes with a second lid,to turn it into a regular cool box so a picnic at the beach is easy

We used a coolbox for years, most sites have a ice block freezing service so you can change ice blocks when needed.  We moved over to a 3-way a couple of years ago and used it as our main household fridge for 6 months when we bought a new house and had no way of keeping the milk fresh until the new kitchen was fitted.

Cheapness=coolbox

convenience=3-way.

A friend I camp with has a coolbox and I still have a 3 way Campingaz fridge bought over 8 years ago. For me the fridge wins hands down, it is completely silent, has a thermostat, I can make ice cubes though not a lot and I can use it on sites where there is no e/h, on max power it gets through a 907 gaz bottle in about 10 days. I never bothered running it on the car 12v electrics, just chilled it down in the house before loading it and chucking it in the tailgate just before leaving.

Question from Steve H on using gas, there is a small amount of heat coming up from the vent, no more than on electric, just ensure theat there is free space round the back of the fridge and the vent is clear.
