- do you mean spare matress/curtains for the combi? If so, Siggi, dealers in Thame have them including the rather hard/impossible to match curtain clip bits so that you could get some made easily and add them to make your own, dealers is Mangine Ltd (Siggi & Brian)

www.combi-camp.co.uk if you mention the owners group www.combicampers.forumup.org you might get a bit of discount! It all helps!!

Hi Hazza

I know your interested more in a FC but just thought id mention im selling my Trailer tent and where just over the hill from you in Milnrow, junction 21, its a Trigano Chantilly, 2004, it has a main awning, small awning, and sun canopy, as there's only been 3 of us using it the last year we tend to just use the small awning with the cabin so its quicker to put up.

If your not interested its not a problem, would have liked a FC myself, but have now just put a deposit on a moterhome so thats why where selling.

we thought about a trailer tent - until, that is, we saw a folding camper at a dealers not too far from here.  we both fell in love with it and as soon as funds were available we went and bought one.  definatly a great buy as it is basically a caravan with canvas walls and roof.  all the comforts without the hassle of storage as it (just) fits in the garage and is a dream to tow

We've just bought a Camp-Let Appollo, very easy to put up and down and only 250kg. We were told we could pull it on our 1.1 Saxo! Second hand ones are rare, but we also saw a 22 year old one still worth half the price of the new ones - have a look!

Hi Fiona, thanks for the offer, the Trigano sounds tempting but I think we are leaning towards a FC if we can get one for the right price (cheap). We were planning on going to Mitchells at the weekend but the weather forecast doesn't look too good. I will keep your offer in mind if things don't work out with a camper.
Thanks to everyone else for the input, it's great to get opinions from people who have first hand knowledge of these things.

I can vouch for combi camps.  The main unit can be erect by one person in less than a minute!  The newer ones have lovely kitchen attached too!

Raclet do a small FC and Trailer Tent. Very light to tow. A pic of the Solena is in my gallery and they also do a T T called Minto which is small and compact to tow.

Hi Hazza,

We are also in Huddersfield, I bought my folding camper from someone off ebay, and we love it. Mitchells don't really have anything in the folding camper line, you might see one if your lucky.

I put an advert in the Examiner on the back page, wanted folding camper, but only got tons of people offering me trailer tents, but I thought it was worth a try.

If you are going for a folding camper check out what sort of layout they have and do you research first before you buy.

Camperlands in Manchester had a few used folding campers, and they have a large area with new trailer tents.I think your wife will see trailer tents and folding campers in a new light after going their.

Thanks for the input Lopo, we were going to do the rounds this weekend but the weather put us off. I'll let you all know when we have decided and finally take the plunge.

don't forget to look at a Dandy made by Riva... Folding camper designed for English weather can be folded away wet without worry.  I have done it, has insulated sides so it can be used in the winter as well as the summer... I have done that tooooooooooooo and been very cosy.  Also Riva have a aftersales service second to none.... really brilliant I have used them for alterations to my second hand privately bought Dandy.  They will fit bespoke things if you ask them toooooooooo....

Hi there

We brought a camp-let concorde on sunday at the NEC.  We first went on the monday mainly for research.  Had seen a few tts and thought Sunncamp 350se was the one for us - until we got to NEC.  Was there for pretty much the whole day and kept going back to ask more questions and have a go a opening them up, etc.

We liked the look of combicamps but with two young kids who like jumping on beds we both thought against it.  The fcs were really out of our price and as we only have a golf didn't want to tax the engine too much when towing - all the extra stuff you need adds up.

Anyway, had a demo from one of the guys at camperlands and couldn't believe how easy it was to put up the camp-let concorde.  It had gas assist which made it so much easier and was also moveable by one person as well.  We have never camped before so we wanted something that is really easy to put up and down, waterproof and store for the winter and this one really ticked all our boxes.

All I can say is just keep looking at as many as you can.  It makes a big difference to see them set up rather than just a picture.  Pre loved is also a good place to look too.  Ebay does have lots on there but some do have high prices.  Ours, brand new with most of the extras, came to just under £5000.  As they last, we hope our kids get some use out of it in the future with their young families.

The help and advice from fellow campers on this forum has been fantastic.
