I erected my new awning in the garage today. Well it was wet outside and I didn't want to have to dry it out. This is my first attempt at a Kyham.

It was a bit tight but after a fair amount of swearing as I tripped over some of the garage equipment, I managed to get it erected in just under 4 minutes.

It is a free standing one and I will wait until I can try it outside before I attempt to attach it to the van but I am well pleased with my efforts. I reckon it will take another 4 minutes to peg it out.

Despite being slightly domed it has full headroom right to the walls, even for me at 6' 4".

I take ages pitching full stop, I just sort of slow right down on a campsite.. even when I pitched a combi and they have to be the fastest, pitching it took me 20 minutes min + (Waits for the combicampers to collapse in shock with smelling salts).....

Well first you have to remove the junk on the top.. you know the chairs, the washing line, the 2nd kitchen sink.....then you have to decide how to stack it underneaththe trailer.....then you start leveling then you consider where to pitch.... wind direction... direction you face... Then you reorganise everything againunder the traielr..... then you say hi to the neighbours..

okay so in this context will tell you that Dandy on my own is 30min jobbie to get up and reorganise the interior... Well I can make that last a week...

It seems to take me longer to find a a suitable pitch on site than it does to put it up,

Seriously from start to finish including all inside about 2 hours by which time I'm ready for a beer, we normally take enough food/drink with us to last a day or so, stops finding a superstore after two hours of tackling a canvas.

Weekend trips are somewhat quicker, only put the cabin up and use an Oklahoma daytent.

with the raclet allegra it takes about 6 mins and within 10 mins i can be sitting down with the kettle on. this fast sit down time is soon coming to an end , my wife has decided that a caravan with awning will be better for us, so it will be 20 - 30 mins at least trying to stick pegs into the ground again

20-30mins for our Pennine Sterling, but it's the awning which takes the longest and is a pig in bad weather, that's why we're looking at a Kyam QE screenhouse day tent.
