Have a look in your Yellow Pages for a trailer builder/repairer, who may be more willing to service the running gear for you than Barrons.

I would repair the tears in the canvas with canvas patches, stick them on with fabric glue before you re-proof. You can use Fabsil but much cheaper is Thomson Water Seal, or any other brand - I used Travis Perkins, but ask if it's suitable for canvas if you get any other - spray it on with a garden sprayer, it's a lot quicker than painting it on.

HI, thanks for the advice

I'm in Wigan BTW

had two uneventful outings with the camper now, all seems well- but not had any rain to speak of yet so can't comment on the weather resistance! have re-proofed the roof with Fabsil.

Have yet to try the awning out, might wait for a long weekend before doing that.

I know the wheels are ten inch- i could do with getting a spare- any idea of the offset? and sizes for the mounting screws? i put 10 inch trailer wheels in ebay search and ended up a bit confused, thought there'd only be one type and there are many!!

Next outing i will take piccies in various stages of the camper going up/down etc, now i've got a bit more used to it. all in all, i think its a sucess- the kids love it anyway and its definitely nicer getting 'out of bed' in a morning, than having to slither off the ground in a tent

Last week I arrived back from a trip to Europe taking in Benelux, North Germany and as far as Prague, with a visit to Colditz Castle on the way down.

The little CB trailer exceeded expectations, towing beautifully behind the bike for 3'000 miles, often at above legal speeds, as though it was made yesterday!  Naturally it attracted lots of interest wherever I camped.  ( gallery images)   It is so light that it had minimal effect on fuel consumption.

I'm jealous!  I'm a biker too (Enfield Bullet 500) but have never considered a trailer tent behind me.  Looks like great fun.

Hey Steve, the Enfield 500 is a good tug for a sidecar so why not a trailer?   Because the Enfield is lighter than my bike you may be restricted on total weight but a decent tent in a trailer plus camping gear should be ok.   Check it out - it's great fun.  There's no big penalty over a solo on ferry prices either or fuel consumption.  http://www.watsonian-squire.com/luggage%20trailers.htm

I'm not sure about the 140 mph bit with a trailer!  Watsonian are also the main agent in the UK for enfield as well as making trailers themselves.  There is a chap in our local club with a trailer, he takes a solid fuel BBQ with him including coke!
