Hi Lisa..... my experiance is that canvas can smell if it has been packed away for a long time but it soon dispels... I can accept it might be the way they were kept. Am not trying to suggest anything awful about pennines.. just what my experiance has been.
I did too!!!!! I was actually very impressed - they were much roomier than I had imagined - I can certainly see the appeal. Pager33 did too - I think she's in line to buy one.

We never keep ours packed away for a long time. Even over the winter we open it up at least once a month for an hour or two on a dry day, this seems to prevent any smells and I think that because the air has a chance to circulate once in a while that this also helps prevent damp & mildew
