Hi,

We unfortunately don't have any kids, but would be happier to camp beside you than the family we camped beside a few years ago. We were 4 adults in a FC having a drink (or 3!) and playing cards. No music, but talking (and I'll admit that I do have a loud voice!). We were asked twice to keep the noise down as "everyone has to get some sleep - we have kids you know." eventually threatened with "getting the owner". What an inconsiderate lot you may think, well actually it was only 8:30 pm and we were pitched directly opposite (less than 20 yards) the site social club that didn't close until 12:30! As already pointed out here some people need to remember tolerance. We moved our pitch the following day only to be told by the owners "sorry we should have told you, they've been like that all week!".

Before anyone jumps on me I'd just like to say that on family sites where we are likely to disturb other people we do any of the following:
A: Go out somewhere else
B: Shut up and go to bed at whatever the "no noise" time is

or most successfully

C: Ask them in!

Richard

Heavens above, just look what this started!

We all try to obey the unwritten camping rules of consideration towards others.

There are people who encourage their children to get up and get out first thing in the morning and I have to agree with other contributors, these children usually belong to those who were late to bed having chattered loudly all the way back to their pitch past everyone else who had settled earlier.  I have been on sites where folk from Newcastle created a circle with cars and caravans and held a hoolie complete with booze and music,in the centre, going on till the early hours(after 1am) - and yes I have offspring, and yes I did go across and ask them to tone it down.

At no stage did I pass comment on parents of babies or other children who cannot be held responsible for their actions.

Acting with consideration for other campers has to be the rule of thumb surely?
