2007, bought new Wheelhome Caravan. Sold it in 2010, lost £7000.
2010, bought s/h FC. Sold it in 2013, lost £3000.
2013, bought s/h caravan for free.
2014, bought new battery, motor mover and 3 new tyres for free. Also all pitch fees and meals out in the coming year will be for free.

Well not actually free but gave up smoking, changed to vaping and the money I saved will cover all costs for last year and all the coming years.

officially unit less watched yesterday as the Countryman drove off into the distance.We will be getting our new to us baby caravan on Sunday its a Elddis Xplore 302 SE. Roll on summer

Yep and the sound of rain pattering on canvas - relaxing sound.

Wouldn't swap back now for us but as previously said no right or wrong - do what suits you and yours best at that time

We will be joining the rest of you on the 'dark side' in a week or so when we pick up out 1st caravan which we have bought off a friend. We always intended to trade up eventually but this was to good an opportunity to miss so it's happened a couple of years earlier than planned.
I will really miss our Dandy though, we've had some great times together and our current one is a beautiful example I shall be sad to see her go.

Sorry but I don't miss the folding camper in the least. It was good while it lasted but it is each to their own

I think I can honestly say I dislike caravans they all look the same and abit boring!
We started with a trailer tent witch we loved but disliked the mount of time we spent putting it up and taking it down
Always fancied a folding camper
We wanted a tardis or cardinal as there quirky and unusaual
This year I finally found a nice decent tardis and we are very happy with it! Don't think we will ever go to the dark side!
But I do like camper vans!

Well, I'm coming to swell the ranks of FC owners (very slightly) as I pick mine up on Thursday evening.

As a petrolhead I cannot bring myself to own a caravan and the FC seemed the logical halfway house. Plus, it seems to me that the FC is the illegitimate offspring of a caravan and a tent and that suits the (neutered) rebel in me just fine!

FC's are great if you are fit enough to use them, but illness, health problems and/or old age can make them a struggle to set up.

Sure I miss a lot of the good points that have already been mentioned about FC's and TT's as we have had them both, but the caravan has its good points too and we are finding out about these during this, our first year on the dark side.

Just enjoy whatever you choose guys.

Had some great trips in our FC and are having some great trips in our caravan. Short trips and rallies for us are much easier with the caravan which is currently a huge plus.

One bug-bear is the term "trading up" - there is no up or down in camping/caravanning IMO - its what you choose to use to get in the great outdoors
