Raclet Charlie is correct in that the Safari is more expensive. This is for several reasons.
The trailer is wider, so the width of the unit is 5m when open. This also makes the cabin area less cramped.
The beds are king sized and slatted, which the galleon is not.
The awning is massive 5m x 3.45.
We have the sun shade, which comes with an extra strip so that is can be connected straight to the cabin to provide shelter if using the cabin only. We have tended to use the cabin only four our last nights camping in France as we have to leave the site early in the morning to make the ferry. Never found this a problem.
Another big difference is that the Safari is a fully braked trailer which is safer to tow.
Ours is the 2013 model and is in the current colours shown in the brochure .

I do love the raclets, but I can only afford second hand so can't really pick and choose the exact model....have to go with what is out there. And I want it NOW!
annagib - take a look at the photos in my gallery - that's the girl we have to sell

Listen, if you can get a Safari with a sun shade second hand and in good nick, jump at the chance. Seriously. They are like hen's teeth second hand because nobody wants to sell them!
You will get 30 years use out of it, seriously. I saw my old 1981 Raclet type 602 the other month, still waterproif and in use!
We are looking for the same as you so I have been following this thread with interest. Our problem is our garage is only 330cm long so the only trailer tent that I've found so far that would fit is the Trigano Galleon but I am put off by the lack of slatted beds having previously owned an Oceane and found the bed v uncomfortable.
Do you know the length of the safari and can you buy an annex for it as there are 5 of us?
ammdkids, The Safari is 375cm long, but no issues with storing outside if protected properly.
You could take the kitchen off if in a garage and store next to TT, then it is only 330cm
It is an 8 berth TT using two underbed bedrooms

Good idea to take the kitchen off for storage. I never thought of that. I don't like the underbed tents though as think they are really claustrophobic. We would prefer something with an annexe. We have also previously had an odyssee with sun canopy and annexe which was a fab tent but sadly about 15cm too long so we sold that.
I finally took the plunge and got a second hand safari!
Now several things I hadn't taken into account with regard to our driveway and garden has left me wondering if it's possible to get the side storage wheely thing..? Or is it too big and heavy for that?
It is possible, but the unit is so tall that it is barely any narrower on is side than on its wheels! Also, bear in mind that you can't side store outdoors - it isn't waterproof on side storage brackets.
It fits in our garage either way. I wanted to open it on our back lawn but I forgot there is a wall in the way so could only wheel it past on it's side! Bit of an expense just for that though. Will have to try opening it on the drive.
