my son bought us an old IFA camptourist off e bay which is Nimrod by any other name. Canvas had large hole in roof and door into main tent from awning was completely rotten....other minor repairs needed and still some to do for example the seals which everyone seems to need to replace. Have done all the canvas repairs and OH has worked on the chassis and trailer etc and now she is wonderful and I would not swap her. We have camped in her 4 times this year with and without grandchildren and love her to bits. She seems far warmer and more draughtproof than the tt we collected for my daughter and the kitchen is soooo good to use especially when we put our collapsible camp kitchen at right angles to it. Know what people mean about no instructions it took us an absolute age to figure out especially the awning but have got it down to a fine art now.....enjoy the project...the final result will be well worth the efforts you put into it......Lynne

btw.....I refer to her as 'she' ....she glories in the name of Patsy.....our car is known as Eddy.......since the tt follows Eddy around we made the Ab Fab connection...(daughter's tt is much smaller than Patsy and French made so to keep with the theme is known as Bolly)...Lynne

Hi Copierman, welcome to UKCS.

We used to have a Nimrod NR, about 14 years ago.  From what I can remember, the shelf thingy at the end of the main bed area was to extend the bed.  The main bed officially sleeps four people - very friendly!!!

The cushions were basically foam with a cover on them, so if your sewing is up to it, it shouldn't be too hard to make them up yourself, or find someone to do it for you.  I seem to remember the curtains just threaded onto a line, like a net curtain, so again pretty easy to knock something out on a sewing machine if you're that way inclined.  (By the way, I'm full of good ideas, but hopeless at anything like that).

We never bothered to use the sink, it was too small to fit a plate in, and we always stayed on sites where they had washing up facilities.  I always take a washing up bowl camping anyway so if there's a queue I just put the bowl on the camp table and do the washing up there.

Sorry, can't help with the jockey wheel question.

We loved our Nimrod NR and were very sad to see it go, but we moved house and didn't have anywhere to store it.  I hope you get yours up and running and have many years of enjoyment from it.  I still maintain it is the best designed trailer tent for layout and facilities.

Tessa
