in my opinion its what you are happier doing.
Yes a newer version will theoritically be better equiped etc but sometimes its the things we make ours that are better. the little quirks that are there.
Id say look at what you think you would prefer, regardless of the money and go with that.

I think it all comes down to whether you see yourself selling any time in the near future... if not, then an acrylic canvas/new poles referb is really the only difference (that I can see) between a well maintained late 90s Pennine and one from 15 years later (chassis milage a factor of course, but at least if you've had it from new you know exactly how well serviced it's been etc). So if that's what you're missing, then the referb could well be a good option...

....but.... if there's any chance you might want to sell within a few years, then the referb will likely be a loser. I bought our Crusader early this year, but have been watching the market since last Autumn, and have continued to since (fear that I overpaid... feeling OK about it now though )... not long after I bought ours a 2005 Pathfinder came up on ebay that had clearly been lovingly maintained, and had a full referb with the new acrylic canvas, awning and poles just a year ago. If I remember it was a reluctant sale due to owner's poor health. But it struggled to reach anywhere near the price that even a 2010 acrylic would do, despite the fact that in many ways it was actually "newer"... I really felt for the owners... a big loss on that referb money when considered that way.

Good on you for reviving and updating the camper you know and love.

We did the same and never looked back. I have kept all the old stuff though so if and when we sell, that will all go back in/on and then resell the acrylic stuff. I’m sure that would get snapped up.

The base is sound,no damp,so as we know our camper very well, why not?people have a habit of just chucking stuff away, because it’s not current, what is the difference between new and old?the price,if stuff is out there to refurb, why not???recycling,we have all done it,it’s got another 20 years in it now ,(or will have when we get it done).
