This post is now a few years old and may not get many replies.
Yes, your zip should be a YKK 10C, there should be a number on the zipper to confirm..
Figure of 8's work but tend to come apart as they're not designed to fit a zip.
I'd suggest you do a search for porch awnings in Trailer Tents & Folding Campers, loads of posts on this subject, some quite recently.

I came into this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Hi, I've seen this old post regarding porch awnings. We have just bought an outdoor resolution easi porch to adapt to fit our Pennine Pullman 535 SE 1997 model in green. We are hoping the figure of 8 channels we've just bought will be ideal. Do you have any advice with regards to doing it this way or wuch zip would be needed.. Zip say YKK 10C?
Thank you

Not sure if you know this already, but you have to heat the figure 8 strips until the plastic becomes soft and nip the gap in on the zip side a little so that it fits tightly over the zip. Best done when you have the camper close to keep trying it over the zip. Best way to heat them up is to dip in hot water 1 at a time.
Hope this helps gcb
