After reading your experience we are so glad that we opted for a lightweight(ish) 4 berth caravan. We were so close to ordereing a Quartz 6 this year but in the end went for the van as it had some extras we liked such as more storage and the shower. Paying for storage is a bit of a pain but the OH had some doubts about the new FC's especially as the price has got so high that it is the same as a new van (i.e the Quartz 6 is nearly as much as a new Bailey Orion). I still love the FC concept but can't see us changing from the van now. Good luck with whatever you go for!

On talking to Pennine at the NEC, they are no longer making the Quartz 2+2 or the Quartz 4.  They did say the Quartz 6 was on the sales list for 2012 but didn't know after that.  I think perhaps the material wasn't everything they thought it would be - as they seem to be sticking to the Countryman and Crusader type models with the earlier acrylic.  The salesman said to me that this material was more breathable and therefore better.  They are also no longer making the Cruiser as it wasn't popular enough.

We had the same conversation with them - we were interested in the Cruiser as we do not want the toilet - more effort to errect and maintain.

I bought a new 'old school' cruiser with a canvas roof and it was a lovely camper. For personal reasons i changed it for a sterling europa windward 540 6 berth caravan and to be honest it was the best thing i ever did. Caravan is a bit more effort to tow but storage and wet weather space inside is fantastic - we no longer need the awning which was grief with the cruiser and almost essential with 4 of us. We also have a less draughty unit to camp in all year round, a loo ans shower, central heating etc etc etc. The difference in price? - well, the caravan cost a bit less than the camper, but it was 2.5 years old instead of new. Will i ever go back to easy-tow camper? Maybe, but the convenience of setting up and interior space of the caravan has me won over for now (and the warmth & dryness in the rain).

Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!

Tales of leaking Folding Campers are numerous it seems.

We now have the fight to get a refund for our leaking Camper - the seams where the frame sleeve is stitched appears to be the leak points.

I see that the OP got a refund, that's excellent service - I have been refused a refund, only had the Camper a few weeks too!
