Hello Judy 74, Have a look on gumtree & preloved sites if you want to avoid dealer price`s BUT if by through a dealer you normaly get some warranty may be only 3 months but better than nothing, if you by private get your self a damp meter home base any one like that normaly sells them they are well worth the money islandman

I am sure that this thread will run and run. But, for what it is worth I'll add my bit. Having owned Caravans, Folding Caravans, Folding Campers, Dandy's and Trailer tents as well as other tents I can say that there is NO definitive answer as to what is best. It is what suits your personality, budget, outlook and preference. Some people like canvas, others don't. To some, speed of erection is important, to others it doesn't matter. I currently have a folding caravan but also use my tent when I want to. This can be because I don't want to tow, or I just want a bed for an overnight at a show etc. Dandy's are great but the older ones I owned (3) where too heavy for my wife to hold the wall up whilst I put the stays in, and the method of keeping the roof in place whilst erecting never worked for me. Trailer tents were great when the weather was good but with the changing climate in the UK there is always a chance that you will need to dry it out when you get home. I must admit that I had a Daily Mirror trailer tent many years ago and it withstood a terrible storm in Devon when the modern units collapsed or leaked. An alternative which not many people are aware of is the Apeldoorn Paradiso. A Dutch unit which is a caravan type camper with PVC sides like the Dandy. see here

I had one of these and it was very roomy as well as light to tow, but you don't see them around nowadays.
In conclusion, view all of the alternatives and buy what suits your needs. You will have to make compromises but it is what YOU can live with, not what suits MR Jones down the road. Consider the type of use you will need, e.g. UK or abroad? A couple or a family? Have you got room to store? Do you have a suitable car? Do you want it for overnight stops or week long holidays? All of these will influence your choice. Don't be afraid to ask other peoples opinions but remember that they are only opinions.
