Actually Alan, that's way out of date since Skoda became part of VW Group.  It is little known tha Skoda cars in the 1930's were the best in Europe with felicia, Favourite and Octavia being models rom that age.  It was the annexation of CZ by Hitler and followed by Russion Bloc stagnation that put Skoda back.  Czech Republic have some of the finest engineering (historical and present) in Europe and this from the town that also gave us Pilsner Lager.

VW group now has a sort of unwritten agenda.   Want solid Germanic comfort? - Go VW.  Want sporty latinino-flair? - go SEAT.  Want good reliable well engineered family vehicle? - go Skoda.  There are, of course variations in each brand to suit local markets.  The Octavia is built on a Golf floorpan not, as you would expect, a Passat.  VRS is the 'hot' Octavia and is an excellent contender to the Audi - another VW brand which has uber-quality speed/handling that rivals the BMW competitors.

D*mn.  I said I wouldn't post again.  However, dissing Skoda is now outmoded.  Whitness how many minicabs are Skoda Diesels that have replaced the Rover 600 as favoured cab-hack.   Nuff said.

The chip on my shoulder is as apparent as the vocabulary that has been used within your postings. Non-existent! But then I wouldn’t wish to lower myself to the level of misunderstanding as you have portrayed yourself to have.
