100% agree with Kelper.

Power Drill and Attachment to speed up the winding up and down process of the Corner Steadies, best bit of equiptment bought so far, and so quick.  (Many thanks to our Motor Mover Fitter who demonstrated it to us.)

More time for fun,

Well that is our month long trip over and we are back home now.

4 pack ups and assemblies and we have it down to a fine art now.

We found the best way to put up the curtains was immediately after raising the poles to full height. At each pack up and after the furniture was folded, from the outside, but inside the canvas, I would detatch the curtain wires and lay the curtains over the top of the furniture at each window. As each wire end also has a coded plastic tie wrap to stop the curtains coming off the wires, each set remained in place on its wire and ready to be lifted and fitted into place on the poles at re-assembly.

We have done away with the second curtain in the Loo and just use the one curtain there.

There was a Pennine Sterling on one site we were on and he was using wood dowling rods with a curtain wire hook screwed into each end. He hung these hooks from the existing inner roof lining hoops.

However I personally am against this idea because if it was forcast to be wet the following day and we wanted a quick get-away, we could remove the roof lining the night before and pack it away. Without that lining, unless you are using the wire between the poles to hang your curtains, you cannot remove the roof lining.

We have also decided against adding plastic clips to the ends of the wires instead of the standard hooks. The hooks looped around the poles and onto the wire are working well and if it aint broke, why fix it?

Hi Lobeys,

Welcome back,

Can't believe 4 weeks have gone by so quick, thought you had another week to go, we can stop looking at the NI weather forcast tommorow now, pleased to hear your new curtain set up worked well for you.

We did manage a long weekend away and took our 7 yr old grandaughter with us camping for just the one night, (and 2 whole days) she'd never been with us before, and one night was plenty, had forgotten how demanding kids are, she enjoyed it and asked if she could camp two nights with us next time.

We just need another weekend away to get over that one eventful night, though we did enjoy playing lots of outdoor games on the camp field with her, which we don't normally do, but we did also miss out on our calm relaxing 'me'/ 'us' time.

We're also thinking of going over to just curtain wire for inside the cabin and keeping the poles for the awning. We have a 1999 Pathfinder and have sorted out the curtains for the windows but have just one pair of long narrow curtains (Sorry don't know the dimension of the top of my head). Can anyone tell us where these fit? Is there curtaining to hang over the door itself, otherwise I can't work out where this set of curtains go.

Thanks

Altogether you should have 7 sets of curtains in the main unit. (IE. not counting the awning).

One set on each bedroom window and one set on each bedroom door/opening. (4 sets).

Then one set in the main cabin covering each window. (3 sets.)

There us no curtain at the door.

Thanks Lobey

Can't imagine what this pair are for then, as all the other sets are accounted for, as you say - 4 sets in total for the bedroom areas, 1 set for the toilet window and 2 others for the larger windows in the unit. That does make 7 pairs in total. Maybe someone had a go at making an additional pair for some reason. Will have to investigate further when we next go away in the spring.

Cheers

It could be a "room divider", made up to go between the toilet and the wardrobe, to screen off that area for say a strip down washing area or the like.
Or as you say, a screen for the door when the awning is up.
Anyaways, keep it, you never know what use you may have for it in the future.

Good point. It does seem to be some sort of extra. We also have extra poles, which may have come from a further extension, but the extra curtains we have are definitely from the main unit as they fit in with the colour scheme.

If I find a use for it in the future I'll post to the forum, as I'm all for adaptations. It's what makes camping fun. We've just come back to folding campers, having done tents, then the Conway Countryman, then a few years break until children insisted on camping. We did tents again, but because we'd had the comfort of a folding camper before, knew we'd have to go back to it.

Thanks, just checked the link but my curtains are much narrower and there's certainly no zip. Maybe they were like this but have been doctored at some point. Still a mystery at the moment where they might fit. The camper is packed down for the winter now so I can't get access, but it's going to intrigue me until next spring when she'll come out again.
