We tried for a second time this weekend to pull out the beds on our 'new' 1999 conway crusader, is there a special nack to doing it, we did it eventually but it took both of us tugging and pulling, anyone had similar problems, any ideas we can try, our drive is on a slope so we positioned it across the slope, could this be why it was so hard ? help please !!!!!!!!!! I was hoping I could take it away just me and the kids but there is no way unless I can pull out the beds by myself !

We've got a Crusader and it does take my husband to initially pull out the beds.  He then goes inside to put the retaining pegs in while I pull the beds out as far as possible. 

Have you tried pushing the canvas part upwards first to get some air into the section that you're going to pull out?  We've found that this does help.

We too had the intention that I would take the kids away on my own but I really think I would find it impossible to pull the beds out alone (and definitely wouldn't be able to do the awning). 

As Jan says - open the door (both canvas and solid parts) and flap the poles up and down a few times to get some air under the canvas - this always worked with my old Cruiser. 

I used to be able to do the beds myself - fitting the support poles underneath was fun without the retaining pins (my Cruiser was one of the very first ones made and didn't have the pins - they came some years later), I can tell you!!  I don't know how they work now, but in those early days, they were separate poles that fit into mounting points on the chassis and under the beds - to pitch the thing single handed, you had to pull the beds out, then crawl under them and support them on your back while you fitted the support poles - oh happy days!!!!!

Back to your problem - have a go with the door open and plenty if flapping - it should help.  Lift the poles off the bed with your spare hand while you pull them too.
