Hi All

Conway Novice needs help!!!

Our Conway Countryman has all the bits for a whale water pump (tap, isolator switch, knob on facia etc) but there is no pump.  Being new to this and having looked on the web I have no idea which one we need or what it looks like - infact I dont event know how it works.  Is it a submersible bump that we put into the carrier or should it be a fitted pump inside the unit with a pipe running to the carrier.  Many thanks for all your info.

The pump is usually submersible.  Try this web site www.ukcampsite.co.uk/redirect.asp?redir=http://www.towsure.com  they have all sorts of pumps, that may give you more idea.  Some one else here will probably give you more help.

I got one for a conway cruiser & it was a submersible one, number 881. Not sure if that will be the same one you need though

I quote from our 2003 Countryman manual

"2003 models have the standard Whale watermaster 12v submersible pump. Place the pump into the water container and lifting the water inlet flap, connect the pump plug (male) into the water socket (female). This connects inlet and 12v power to the pump. Open a cold tap in the trailer and switch on the water pump isolator switch (labelled) assuming 12v supply is available water should flow from the tap. Close the tap and the pump will stop."

Our 2003 Countryman has a socket in the side of the trailer body on the left hand side looking from the towbar. The submersible pump plugs into this and is dropped into the water container.

I dont know what year your unit is or what the layout is inside so yours could well be different. Post a message on the Conway Owners Club forum and you should get a reply from someone who may well be able to help mor than me.

Hope this helps a little

Mike

You could use any whale pump as long as it fits in the unit... The only difference between the pumps is how much water it feeds through at once e.g the flow rate just go to your local camping supply shop and buy the cheapest as you only have the one tap...
