Hi Everybody,

Just bought an NR Nova trailer tent off ebay. Pretty pleased with it except when I was putting it up tonight I noticed that the Awning Zip is broken. When I say the Awning it's actually the zip on the tent itself that the awning zips onto. So 2 questions. 1 - Is this possible to repair? 2- Is there anywhere in Ayrshire or West Central Scotland that you guys can recommend for a good and hopefully cheap repair? Thanks.

Without knowing exactly how your TT folds up, I have a suggestion. Is is possible to still get the awning zipped on then just fold the whole thing back over the cabin when packing down the TT? We do this with our Conway, just to save time when erecting and striking the tent.

Our previous TT, an old Walker, had a knackered awning zip just like your`s so with much fiddling I got the tow parts zipped together, whip stitched the zip securely shut and we never took the awning off again.

Just a thought.HTH. The only zip repair specialist I know is here in East Lothian, sorry.

Unfortunately it looks like the zip is knackered. It's a plastic/nylon affair that has about 6 of the teeth come of off the cloth and into a big kinked line. The actual zip fastener itself has jumped from the trailer tent bit onto the awning when number 2 son tried to be helpful! So looks like a new zip required. Sweepy has suggested a firm in Musselburgh that I may try. Anyone else know of any others closer to Ayrshire?

Do you have a local caravan dealer or good camping shop? They may know of someone local.

It`s the Musselburgh repair place I was going to suggest too, btw. They put a new awning zip onto our Conway when it still belonged to friends of ours. My friend, who is a fussy type, found them very helpful.

Hi Val,

Good idea, I can ask at Eglinton caravans in Irvine, they might know. If the worst comes to the worst I'll brave deepest Musselburgh!
