Hi everyone, picked up our 1989 Camargue today and need some advice please.

We are new to trailer tenting, having had a quick look at our new purchase, we would like to replace the mattress' and we can't find the roof linings for the main tent area.

Any recomendations on who to turn to for replacements at a reasonable cost.

All other advice appreciated.

mattresses, why not use a air mattress, make sure you put a old blanket on the wood under the inner, the roof lining, do you mean the one inside? you dont really need them although they are good at keeping the warm in and the hot out

we have just bought a tt too, and we tried our air mattress and it worked fine and doubled up the tt mattress for the kids

I think I`ve put my roof linings up once, and that was more from curiosity than anything else. Bit too much of a faff to put up, IMHO. They`re really only necessary for insulation in very hot and very cold weather.

Cheers button, thanks for the tip, will suggest air beds to my missus and see what she says, got an idea she will want to go down the foam mattress route though and yes it was the inner roof lining I meant.

Thanks Val, guess they are more for aesthetics then, to hide the main frame poles, as we only intend to camp in the UK this year and France next perhaps we won't need them.

Hi we too have bought a conway camargue, Had a nightmare to start with, the poles to attach the extension were missing!!! After a lot of head scratching we made them up, poles from focus DIY and hooks and clamps off Ebay!!! just a  lesson to be learnt from my nightmare!!!!!! we too have the roof linings missing not many places have stock for an old conway however we found some with tent valeting services in Bolton the cost was £75 for the main cabin and £50 for the extension, we decided to leave it as the tent only cost us £250!!! not sure what colour the linings were. hope this helps. HAPPY CAMPING Emma

Thanks Val have just emailed the bloke to see if he would sell the wardrobe pole on its own. does anyone know if I really need this? I have got my hubby to make the poles for the extension but we have yet to put it up (Not stopped raining this week), so we don't know what the extension is like! and if we really need the wardrobe pole thingy!"!!

Hi Emma, thanks for the info but as we paid a similar price (£285) we might give it a miss as well. Put the bed area and small extension up today, (no room for other living area), looks like it's going to be big on completion! Looks like all the poles are there, just a few marks on one section of the canvas and one tiny hole where one of the poles has 'nipped' it when folded, but on the whole very happy and can't wait to get away.

I'm wondering if you intend taking out the original mattresses completely & then substituting them with airbeds? I would be a bit concerned if this was the case as without the mattresses in place you might cause damage to the structure of your tt when folding it up.

I'm all for the roof linings, it gives my wife something to do while I'm pegging out  .

After reading your post and talking to her indoors, looks like we will leave the mattresses in and use airbeds as well!
