My OH has fallen in love...with a folding camper. He wants to get one with a hard top. We would have to store it in the garden. My question is can you remove the canvas on this type of camper to store indoors for the winter?, my mate does this with her TT canvas and it works really well. Also where do you get them serviced? and how often?i.e brakes and electrics.
------------- Theres only one way of life and thats your own!
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.
There is really no need to remove canvas over Winter ,mine is stored outdoors all year ,i just remove mattresses ,roof linings ,cusions etc and then cover with the breathable cover which i purchased from Pennine when i purchased camper which is breathable. Some people remove canvas but i would guess most don`t.
we dont bother we just stick a tarp over the thing and tilt it down so any water runs off, ours stayed very dry, but it does help if the overs dont leak in anyway.
The only thing we take out over the winter is the roof & bedroom linings and the bedding. We leave in the mattresses, cushions etc. and have never removed the canvas. It's stored outside all year round and all we use extra in the winter is a Pennine winter storage cover.
We wintered ours on the front, with no extra cover as i didn't get a round tuit. It was fine, we just put an upside down washing up bowl under the original cover so the rain poured off, that was valkscot's handy tip! As long as you check now and again and stick your nose in for a sniff i think the canvas should be fine left on. As with everything, its the damp and lack of air circulating that causes the problem.
------------- Gone are the 'sleeping on the floor' times, I love my TT.
I get mine serviced at a caravan dealers, but this year it was serviced by a trailor dealer which was much cheaper, I get mine done once a year, inside every other year. best time is around new year as they are less busy. Have a good ring around for the best prices, they can differ quite alot
if you're worried about damp getting in during the winter, just pop in a dehumidifier for a couple of days once in a while - that'll suck out any moisture.
