We take two ground-screws - we place one in the middle of the awning so our cocker spaniel can go into the camper and outside just a little and another outside so she can stay with us when we are lounging around and she can venture just a little further afield.
To sleep, we take her fleece mat which we put on the floor by the sink. She wouldn't settle anywhere she couldn't hear us snoring!

Oh you will enjoy it.... We took our minature schnauzer last year when she was 4 months old. We had a cage and I woudnt have gone without it. It was handy for her to sleep in and when we wanted some "peace" for 10 mins. We also took one of those dog screws that go into the ground so we could tie her up outside the tent and she coudnt run away.
We had no problems at all and had a lovely holiday with our new puppy..
we camped with our two dogs last weekend (collie and a terrier). Neither are used to crates so we had a dog screw and two chains for them situated just outside the awning so they could be in or out depending on what they wanted. And yes, you can guess where they too slept at night......
Our two really enjoyed themselves - a new area to explore! - and I couldn't imagine not having them with us. They were out and about during the day, in the tent in the evening, and if husband and I wanted to nip off for a pint they went into the car for safety and security. Had it been warm or sunny (ha ha!! It wasn't either of those) they could have sat outside the pub with us so there would have been no need for them to be in a hot car.
oaksoft, we too have a beagle puppy. How old is yours? Ours will be 16 weeks tomorrow, hes called Jasper, hes a little monkey and keeps getting under our garden fence! We are thinkin of takin him camping but not sure we are brave enough, also have 3 kids under 6!
Hi, We have a gsd and a lab and camp with them. At first we used a tether but when we went to the loo it was a pain as we had to do it is shifts. If w left them they tied themselvs up, tied themselves amround the wind break. At night they slipped under the tent flaps and went missing. When we left the tetther on overnight (i did not like this due to risk of strangulation) they went out one flap and back in another and rip[ped the tent. THEN we bought crates, we used them at home to show they were nice and comfy and gave the treats etc. (dogs are 9 and 4) and when we wnnt away they w4ent in them and we all went for a shower together. The man next door said they made no noise and were perfectly calm. Oh joy. We still tether them when we are around but if we leave thay are great. They sleep in them over night and are nor stressed at all. Obviously they are very large crates but they live in the awning and we just make sure they are warm. I would certainly recommend one. They do come in usefull at home too.
Check out the car boots, we got ours, one for £12 one for £15 and they are about £50 new. We looked at the fabric ones but I was worried bout chewing etc. I wonder if because he is so young and if you make it a happy place he may not destoy it.
