We are looking to venture out in our new TT in a few weeks time and I'm getting really excited!
I was just wondering if anyone else has got the Mistral and could give me a bit of technical info. One of the sites we want to book asked us for the measurements of our unit when fully erected but I don't know as we don't have the space to put it up at home - our first attempts will actually be on site (which should give our fellow campers a good laugh!!)
We were told it measured 6m x 4.2m but there is one on eBay identical to ours which says it measures 7m x 4m.
Our Mistral has the kitchen unit and has an awning and a sun canopy (think it is the DL)
There are no details about its size in the handbook and I tried contacting Cabanon but never heard back and there isn't any information on their website.
Can anyone help??? Also are there any tips for erecting it?? The poles were colour coded by the previous owners which should make life slightly easier but any hints would be much appreciated!!
Hi Helen I would suggest taking it to your local park and get some practice putting it up. Not only will you get the hang of how it all goes together but you will find out if is all there, If your Cabanon has an inner lining these can be a bit tricky first time. the camp site will only need a rough idea of size so the correct size pitch can be allocated to you. when erecting it put the frame together with the legs folded at mid point then put the canvas on before extending the legs to full size, good luck
Thanks for that Paul. I was wondering the best way to get the canvas on once it was at full height (especially as I'm only small!!)
We found out today that my mother-in-law has space on her driveway for us to have a few trial runs (I was dreading going away without having practiced at all!)
If it's nice tomorrow, we might have a bash - really excited and the kids can't wait!!
We have the jupiter and also wanted to know sizes, age ect and also tried cabanons web site and phone numbers and we also got no reply!! dont think they want to speak to us mere mortals. You could try your local cabanon dealer for sizes or even try www.thepenninegroup.co.uk as they are all the same people. Hope this helps
Hi Helen, I have a Cabanon brochure from 2003 with the Mistral listed in it. Brochure sizes are 420 cms wide, base unit 210 cms long, central living area of 260 cms and the sun canopy of 170 cms. They could also have a 1 metre extension in the main area. Assuming you just have the base unit plus sun canopy, you are looking at an overall length of 6.4 metres.
As for putting the canvas on, I have use a plastic Fiammo caravan step so that my OH can reach when we are putting up.
Does your brochure have the Mistral's unladen weight listed? I know it has a maximum weight of 500kg but I would be interested to know what the user payload is. I'm guessing about 140kg?
Hi Helen, ex works weight with the kitchen is 363 kgs so your payload will be a bit less than you guessed but only by 3......
If you want a copy of the brochure pages and the specification page, just let me know and I'll see if I can scan them and figure out a way get them to you.
