I agree with SW307, we mostly stay on Caravan Club sites and have never felt we were being looked down on, on the contrary, we have had caravaners asking if they can have a look inside and have been shocked at the amount of space we have. If you are shy or reserved then perhaps other people are, therefore no one will strike up a conversation, I have never spoken to a fellow camper and been shunned on any site. With the Caravan Club you don't get shown to a pitch, you choose where you want to go, any pitch on site. This is one big reason for staying with them instead of other clubs or sites. It's a shame they don't allow tents on all sites, but if you have wheels you are welcome, Caravan, TT, FC, or Motorhome.
