Hi all just thought I would give a quick review of our Haven 800.
We brought this tent 3 months ago but had not put it up until we went camping this weekend so it was out first time building this tent at the camp site.
Ok the tent was well packed and was compleat with poles, hooks, bedrooms, guide ropes etc
The instructions were easy to use and straight forward, so first we put down a plastic sheet to protect the tent followed by the main tent which we hooked down as suggested by the suncamp at each end. The poles are colour coded and there are five in total with a spare pole.
At this point Mother Nature thought she would water her gardens and so down came the heavy rain, so there we are first time with the tent on our second ever camping trip trying to put up the Haven 800. Ok getting very wet we inserted the five poles in each of the colour coded postions then starting at the first pole and the end of the tent we put in the ring and pins but not after having to adjust the pin lenght straps.
My wife and kids went in side the tent with the bedrooms and I started on the guide ropes of which there are 33 but only 18 hold the tent with the others being for windows etc.
Great now i'm in the tent out of the rain and no leaks well not yet anyhow so the two of three bedrooms are up and now the leaks start but this OUR fault not Suncamps, as the haven 800 has a sig system the ring & pin straps are sercured on the inside of the tent and this is where the rain was leaking in. My wife noticed that it appeared that when I sercued the tent down I did not over lap the material around the ring & pin and rather than the rain running down straight to the floor it was getting under the tent. So after adjusting all of this and the leaks stop.
So now all the bedrooms are up, guide ropes done and everthing adjusted we load all are stuff in tent. Some nice features of this tent are the cable entry point, colour coded poles, vibrant yellow guide ropes, more windows than my house, air vents at each window, two entry doors.
So how do I feel about this tent well I love it and so does my wife and children. It WAS easy to put up other my lack of nowhow (MANY THANKS TO THE TENT OWNERS WHO HELPED ME ON THIS WEBSITE )
It took use an hour to put up but really two hours with the bedrooms and gear the tent is very well made apart from the small strip that runs over the door zip I think its called a weather stip this ripped at the bottom at the point it connects to the ground sheet this could of been my fault as this the was the side of the door I use to enter exit the tent during the rain when I was doing the quide ropes?
So there it is the Suncamp Haven 800 is a must for a family of four it has lots of space, easy to put up, guide ropes even the kids can see, lots of airvents to deal with condensation, lots of windows, cable entry point, S.I.G and a repair kit which includes tent patches and a tube of seam seal and brush.
