My son and his girlfriend just bought a 1999 Pennine Fiesta 2+2 folding camper. I notice it has no battery and i have no idea where you would put it...Can anyone help.? As it has 12v sockets dotted around, i assume there is provision for a leisure battery. Someone suggested it goes in the front locker, but would that mean drilling into the camper? I am worried that drilling holes into the bodywork would devalue it.
Also the fridge does not work on electric, but appears to on gas, cannot try the 12v yet..are we doing something silly???
When I had my sterling it came with a leisure battery and fit into a purpose made water proof container (you can buy these from camping and caravaning shops).I had to place the battery near the tow bar of the camper and using an adaptor conect the crockerdile clip ends to the battery and the pin plug to the white plug lead that would normaly fit onto your car.If you go on towsure web site I'm sure they would list the parts you would require.
Forgot to mention the fridge, if you were to run it on 12v it would run your battery down in a very short time so that is why it's better to run on gas and also runs colder when on gas.
Oh I forgot about the fridge. If it is the same as mine it works on gas or 230v mains. The 12v will keep it cool as you travel if you have the auxillary white socket on your towcar.
This is all supposing that there wasn't a major change in spec. between the 1999 and the 2000 models.

Thanks 'Blood', trying it out this weekend, will run on gas until an electrician can check out electrics...

I have a 2000 fiesta and mine fits under the sink which is the left hand front cupboard as you look from the door
You say there are 12 v sockets here and there. Try following the wires to see if they come to a comon place. I had to completeley rewire my Fiesta because to wiring was in such a mess. I have seen batteries in all sort of places in Pennine campers.Where are you located?
------------- If it ain't broke don't try to fix it!

What a good idea...never thought of that!! i just expected to see the 'snap-on' battery connectors that normally live in cupboards...just find it strange there's nothing there. but following the wiring seems a sound option..

Hi again shame you are so far away, because the12v system is so simple. If you follow the wiring you should find a fuse.Does it have 240v fitted?
although there are some 240v sockets inside, we were only given one of those portable electric hookups...(with 3 sockets)..no external fitted hook up point.
Assuming we find a 'fuse' from the 12v wiring...what does that mean?
Hi Carol do the same with them follow the wiring on the back.Is there a Consumer unit in any of the lockers or cupoards
With regards to 12v it is most important to have a fuse fitted in case of a short.Although only 12v a short can create a great current.(90% of cars fires are electrical)
