i am new to trailer tents/folding campers , i have spotted a conway challenger with the 2 sleeping areas , i at each side and i noticed a previous post about positioning the legs for stability.well my question is should you even out the weight? would it be okay for myself and hubby to sleep at one side, and my 2 young daughters at the other or should be , be 1 adult and 1 chid?  oh and lets not forget our dog..he would go in the middle..i have so much to learn, youcan tell i've only used a 'normal' tent before

2 adults on 1 side & 2 kids on the other will be fine  thats what I did when i had my trailer tent. just make sure you have blocks of wood or something similar under the legs to stop them sinking into the ground. always worked for me

we both sleep on the same side, kids on the other side. as bob-d says blocks of wood under the legs to stop them sinking is a good idea

You will be fine, its amazing how solid the beds are, me and my hubby aint exactly lightweights and I worried the legs may snap or something, lol. Only thing I have noticed is the beds aint that big, wouldn't say a double, I have one and my hubby and 2 yr old have the other, but when he gets a bit bigger we will have to squash in together

Its solid as a rock, our bed legs don't even sink and couple of weeks ago we went in some bad rain, it got quite muddy on the ground but it was fine!

Hubby and I are not lightweights either, and we sleep on one side, our five year old on the other, no problems. Remember that in a TT the beds are hinged and rather than tip the trailer with the weight, the bed would just droop sideways.

Which is why you need the pieces of wood under the bed legs. For our Conway Camargue TT we carry eight pieces...four flat pieces about 6" x 6" for under the steady legs, and four similarly sized supports for the bed legs. The bed leg ones are made of two flat pieces screwed together though, with a one and a half inch circle routered (sp?) out from the upper slice so that the leg doesn`t slide off the support. A jamjar lid screwed onto a piece of wood would be just as effective.

Oh, and I`ll just mention here...whatever you have, tt or fc, braked or not (but especially if unbraked), pitched on a slope or not...chock the wheels, every time.

"Remember that in a TT the beds are hinged and rather than tip the trailer with the weight, the bed would just droop sideways."

On some (especially Conway) larger models of FC the beds pull out on sliders so this would not apply BUT they are very strong and the weight of the unit itself means that it is extrememly unlikely to tip. I've never heard of it happening.

The Challenger is like the Fiesta and both say sleeps 4. - nothing about the weight issue and frankly nothing about the size issue.  The space in the beds isn't great - it wasn't over generous in the Pathfinder and that 'slept 6'.  The King Sized bed was actually a double and of course the side slopes inwards.....  We shared out the beds, spreading generally but doubling up if neccessary.
