also get bitten to death even in the back garden when nobody else does and i have just tried insense burners witrh citronella didnt keep the midgies away but i didnt get bitten either and there were loads around got them off ebay for about two pound wouldnt use anything else now they were excellent my mum and dad thought they were great also and took a box to ibiza with them last week
I use the Avon product, and burn the Citronella candles. What we were also told works is not to shower in a perfumed product - it attracts the little b****rds.
If unfortunately you do get bitten, putting an antiseptic cream on them as soon as you feel it helps stop them from becoming too irritating.. both my hubby & youngest daughter are allergic to any bites.. spiders included... if left the bites come up like golf balls... so know this works, through experience.
We use the avon SSS as well, but we also use the clearlite lamp that has insect repelant mats in them and they work really good, we where in the lake district last half term and there where lots of midgi's, so we lit the lamp under our roll out awning and waited 15 min and then they'd all gone and we got to sit out side, used it last year outside out trailer tent and was really pleased with it, see the link below.
