Hi there!

Just bought our first ever folding camper today (Pennine Pullman 2005) second hand and am delighted with it so far!  (we've only had it up on the drive but I'm so excited to go away in it as it seems like total luxury after years of camping!)

Have trawled the message boards already but have a few questions I wondered if anyone could answer...is there such a thing as a manual for each model (got it up right in general by trial and error but I have a few metal poles left which I can't work out what to do with and I think must be linked with the curtains somehow???!).  Also I need to know about connecting the battery/fridge/electrics etc properly and a manual seems the only answer.

Also, does anyone have any tips for packing up in the wet (I'm slightly nervous about folding it all up wet and soaking everything inside?)  Obviously, I would get it out again to dry out asap but what's the solution to folding away when wet?  Any tips greatfully recieved.

Many thanks, Sally.

Hello and welcome.  i am assuming that pullman's are similar to stirling's in as much as there should be some plastic covers under the bed mattresses fixed by the window.  if so, then by unclipping the bedroom pod and laying these covers over the lot, it will save the beds from getting wet.

the battery should be easy to connect, just clip the clips on the terminals, noting the correct cololur codes or any other indication of positive and negative.  the electric cable will then plug into the socket next to the battery, and the cable hangs down into the recess in the bottom of the door.  as far as i can recall, our fridge is permanently connected to both electric and gas, its just a matter of turning the right switch to power it.

do the poles you have left over have plastic ends? if so they will be for hanging the curtains in the awning.  just thread them on and you will find hanging points near to the top corners of the windows.

should any of this information differ between a Pullman and a Stirling i'm sure that someone will be along with the correct information, and who knows, maybe even a copy of a manual for you.

failing that join the pennine owners club and get on to a meet, there you will find very friendly people to answer all your questions, and show you exactly what goes where.

of course i must add that people on here are very friendly and helpful too

Hi Sally

we have a 2004 pullman and are very pleased with it too, like you say it just seems sooo luxurious after tent and trailer tent!

Ours came with a few instruction sheets and a small information booklet, which unfortunately I cannot look at at the moment as they are packed inside the camper! have you tried e-mailing Pennine to see if they can send you any information??

The curtain poles in ours are black rods, you fit two of them together for one window ie one end has a metal joining point and the other end has a rubber stopper and you suspend the curtain poles from small loops that are on the roof lining.

Not sure if there is a proper way to connect the electrics but we usually plug the EHU lead into the camper and then the other end into the power supply then flip the switch on the charging unit from the 0 postion to the 1(it usually lights up) I think you also have to flip a switch on the small panel just under the wardrobe (sorry for being a bit vague but OH usually does this bit!) he best way is just to plug something like a lamp in and see if it works! Don't forget when you turn your gas on in the front box (best to do it before opening the beds as you don't have to crawl under) that there is also a lever type switch to turn on in the cupboard under the sink.

On our fridge there are two coloured switches the red one for battery supply and the green for EHU.when connected to electric the red needs to be on 0 for off and the green on 1 for on we usually have the control on 7 to start, then when the fridge is cold enough we turn it down. You cannot tell if the fridge is actually working (as it makes no noise and no lights illuminate) only when it gets cold after a few hours will you know!

Sorry to waffle on but I hope all this helps.Hopefully the 2004 and the 2005 are very similar so it will all make sense!

As for packing away wet we are luck enough not to have experienced this but there are wet sheets (plastic sheets) under the seat cushions and also under the matresses that you can use to cover your things up so they do not get wet.Hopefully someone else will come along on here and advise you more!

happy camping!

You can also tell if the fridge is on by putting your hand by the fridge vent outside and seeing if it feels warm or if there is warm air coming from it.

Try and get to a Pennine meet, there are plenty of folk to answer all your questions.

Where are you based?

BRILLIANT!!!

thanks for all the really useful advice to keep me going.  Have now managed to order a manual through Peninne as well.  I'm so pleased I stumbled across this site and look forward to meeting many other happy folding camper owners on my travels!  I'm based in Gloucestershire by the way.

Thanks again

Sally
