Now that we have narrowed our choice down to a used Pennine Pullman or a Conway Cruiser (depending on age/condition/price) we think it best to join a club.
We will no doubt join the appropriate owners club .... BUT ... what about The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club ?
Is there much to choose between them, pros and cons of membership etc ?
I heard from some friends who have a "proper" (their words) caravan that in The Caravan Club folding campers are not particularly encourage.
Your thought/experiences will be most welcome.

We have a Pennine Sterling and have been on the Caravan Club Sites, with no problems. I have heard that caravaners dont want FC on the sites, but have personally not come accross this. The sites we have visited have all been immaculate and well worth many more visits in the future.
We are in the camping + Caravan Club. No problems on their sites, all the ones we have been on have been great. I think as long as your unit has wheels & the main bit does not need pegs, the Caravan Club will take your money too. Should we start a plan to get these two operations to merge?
We are a member of both but haven't used their sites much yet. The caravan club has an excellent magazine and I am sure they would count folding campers as caravans.
We have a sunncamp TT and are members of the Caravan Club. We do have to peg out our main bit but as far as I am aware I have never felt unwelcome at any of their sites. I am sure that they are both pretty much the same.
But it is definately worth joining one. We saved more than the annual subscription only weeks after joining when we booked our Eurotunnel crossing for this summer. It was £50 cheaper than the internet price. Bargain!!
We joined th C&CC last year and haven't used it.The big book and the monthly mag are very good but we could not get on with the web site, every time we wanted to find a site in a particular area it wouldn't be there. We found it as cheap if not cheaper booking sites from The top 100 site guide and adult only sites, much nicer.
We're in both and have encountered no problems on either club sites or certified ones with the caravan club , however, forget the rallies management may be happy to have you but not so the regular ralliers. ( Either that or we suddenly turned into the great unwashed). The camping and caravan club also has a sub division for trailer tents and folding campers which you can join. If you intend to use minimal sites join both but otherwise I would go for the C&CC.

we have been to a couple of rallies with our local DA this year, and been made to feel most welcome both times, and encouraged to attend a few more. guess it's the usual case of the odd few 'spoiling' it for the majority in your case Jan?

We are members of the Pennine Owners Club, and go on a lot of their meets (managed 50 nights away in 2006). The membership fee and a commission from members insurance with Richard Keen is used to subsidise the meeting costs, thus reducing the nightly rate right down.
Never bothered looking into either of the others as we go away too often with the Owners Club
Thanks to everyone for your input which is very very welcome.
I think that on balance we may well start with just the relevant owners club and see how we get along from there.

We are in the Camping and Caravan Club, we think its great.
The sites are quite cheap and clean, we are not bothered about pubs/clubs on site like the peace and quiet. They cater for everyone whatever your unit, which is good for us as we keep swopping, lol.
I would only join the Caravan Club if I had a caravan, which I probably will one of these days, their sites look really nice.
