Hi. I'm new to this camping stuff so please be patient with me if I know nothing! I was wondering if any one had any advice for me on the following subjects... I go camping on Sat 28th with 3 kids aged 4, 3 and 1. I am really looking forward to it but I am extremly nervous...what if I don't take everything I need, what if we can't put the tent up, what if the kids don't sleep, what if the youngest won't take a shower!!!??? Also, we don't have the tent yet but was thinking of getting the Outwell Hartford XL as we like the light it has (due to skylight) and space (for toys and bikes etc). Please any advice will be GREATLY recieved!!!

i know it sounds bad but camping is going back to nature you go to enjoy the basics of being back in th wild if the kids dont shower so what take plenty of baby wipes they will be fine for a few days.  the only rule i have always stuck to is when i take my children camping is they are enclosed in a copartment on their own only because if they can see the rest of the party they dont settle we once went campng in a markey (sorry about the spelling) so i took a inner tent comaprtment and hung it up with lots of string it was the only way to get them to settle.  they cam still hear you and wont feel abandoned.  we took our son camping for the first time when he was 6 months old still in nappies and drinking bottled milk! it wasnt easy but we managed just make sure they are warm if not they will stur in the night! a potty is always a good idea as kids always need a pee in the night its much easyer to pop them on that than treck across the site to the loos.  a portable radio is a maybe as well as it will block out back ground noise of others walkign about at night as for tents i would not have a clue we always had a 4 man dome tent for the 5 of us the kids all in one side and myself and my partner in the other we now have a trailer tent which is a god send.  one word of warning you will be up early as soon as the sun rises in fact ...................warm cloths and wellies even on a nice day / weekend

anyway enought from me have fun can you not set the tent up before you go as a practise? if you have a garden do a test sleep out the first night for me is always the coldest mind you im a wimp.

Probably best to post this on the camping forum - this is the trailer tent and folding camper one - there are loads of very experienced campers on the camping forum who would offer you invaluable advice
