You have a really nice unit there, good choice, we loved ours very much, why not ask if you can try the motor mover on the unit first, before buying, if thats possible.

Congratulations - you must be so excited! I know we were when we bought ours

I know the Pathfinder is heavier than ours, but even so, I wouldn't have thought a motor mover would be necessary - I'm sure a Pathfinder owner will come along to correct me though!

Have many happy holidays - we are taking our fc to France TOMORROW!!!!!!

Hi Jo,

Congratulations on your new pathfinder - I bet you will be really happy with it

I don't think I've seen many postings about movers on here. Maybe it might be worth trying a posting on the caravan board to see if anyone has used that particular one?

Enjoy!!

Don't know about the mover you have been offered, but we had a PowrTouch fitted to our Pathfinder - without it, it took 3 adults to manouver the camper up the short, but steep, slope/ramp into the garage (garage was a tight fit, but it would go if you were careful - but the clearance through the door wasn't enough to risk 'getting a run up' at the slope!!).  With the mover, I could easily get the camper out or put it away by myself.

I loved our Pathfinder, and I can fully understand your excitement (ask the 'old hands' on here what I was like when we got the Pathfinder - I was so manically excited, I'm sure they'll all remember .... )  ENJOY

We too have a Pathfinder but the 2006 model which I'm sure will be exactly the same (apart from the trim). Our drive has a slight slope and I can manage to get it most of the way up by myself and all the way up with the help of our 15 year old son.

What we do is get it to where we can hitch it up then tow away off the drive. You may not have the room though. We've had ours for about 18 months and had a fantastic first summer last year, however we haven't been so lucky this year. We feel restricted by the weather as it's a big no-no to put the top down when it's wet as you will need to open it up to dry it out otherwise you will get the dreaded mildew. We've got a week booked in Scotland next week so hopefully it will stay dry for that. The plus side is the towing which we do with, believe it or not, a Seat Ibiza!!! Fully loaded for 4 and a car full we get 45mpg so well happy with that. We are looking at moving over to a lightweight caravan so we can get away more often and not worry about damp canvas.

Make sure you take the time to learn how to put the awning up as this bit takes the longest to do. 20 minutes for the van and up to two hours for the awning. Also if you're not very tall, a small set of step ladders are a very welcome piece of kit as you will struggle to reach the awning zip, we tied an extra lenght of string onto the one already on the zip to give us extra reach but it still wasn't enough. MAke sure you remove / collapse all internal poles before putting away to avoid damage and leave some kithchen roll in the fridge to absorb moisture and leave the door slightly ajar. Make sure you turn gas on before unfolding beds too as it's a pain once they're up and you have the skirts on to get in the box.

can't think of anything else for now but will add anything that occurs later.

Happy Camping,

Brian.

No doubt you'll have many happy times in your Pathfinder though.
