Yet more praise for these amazing tent pegs. We are in Cornwall at the moment and have just had two days of high and really gusty winds. First time i have used the Deltas and they have not moved at all and they really have been tested with the winds but also the ground is absolutely saturated and the normal pegs were just pulling out of the mud. I have them on all the guy lines on the pathfinder and awning plus a tie down on the inside of each front corner of the awning. Absolutely Fantastic!!!!!

i can second that ! last year we had a day where it gusted to 50 miles an hour, and the delta stayed rock solid , while everyone else had to run round hammering in those feeble steel pegs, off to cornwall in the next few days and the delta are already packed ready to go !

Are you using the nylon, or stainless steel ones?  And is there a knack to putting them in?

i'm in two minds about them myself.
if they never come out in use as claimed then the weak point will be the guy or what the guy attaches to on the tent.
i'd rather a tent peg comes out than anything else!
we tend to run 2 awning tiedowns under the canvas but over the frame anyway so they (the delta's) probably aren't needed.
we loop the tiedown over each part of the frame it goes over otherwise the whole tent frame just moves under it

i do find it strange though there is no provision for guys anywhere on the awning we have on our elderly chantilly! and no signs they have had them and been removed ,the cab though has an abundance

Delta pegs every time here. Never had a guy go on me but plenty of pegs come loose but never with a delta. Best peg by far.

If you knock your pegs in at 90º to your guys as intended instead of straight down surely they will do the same as a delta peg? They look like an expensive way of making you do the job properly.

Looking at the pictures I've seen of them, I guess the shape provides a fulcrum point at the extreme angle, so (and I'm guessing here, as I don't know how to use them), if the length with the hook is parallel to the ground, the other length is in at 45º - then upwards force on the hook would be met with opposing mechanical force at the right angle, assisted by the fact the other arm is in the soil.  So similar to an ordinary peg, but the extension of the top arm strengthens the overall resistance.  But I still can't quite see how you put it in while maintaining tension, as it looks like as you drive it in, the hook will automatically head towards the tent?  Do you just estimate where to start from?  Might be sounding a bit thick now, so I'll shut up!

I've got some delta pegs and they are really good for guy ropes (although I use them on similar webbing straps on my tt).  I'm not technically minded but these seem very well designed.

I work out where I need the guy and insert peg about 90% into the ground.  The L shape peg should point towards the tent.  I hook the guy under the notch (untensioned) and then hit the remaining 10% of the peg home.  The peg should be hit into ground so that the top part of the peg (parrallel to the ground part) should be flush with the ground (added benefit - nothing to trip over!).  I then tension the guy ropes and boy do they hold there ground.

I'm no engineer but I can see that the tension exerted on the peg will transfer along the horizontal part of the peg and actually make the ground part of the peg dig deeper into the ground.  The pegs also have a large surface area which helps.

They only weather conditions I worry about when camping are gale force winds and trust me these pegs are really good.

Been used in 60mph winds in Morecambe, myself and Wildie were the only tents not having to go outside and knock in loose pegs, in fact when we finally got up, majority of the other tents had upped and left!

Brilliant product it really does hold your tent secure as stated. - Well done Rob!

I think this testimonial from their website (http://www.deltagroundanchors.co.uk/home/a4_testimonials) says it all:

"We have been using steel anchors from Delta in our Portable Helicopter landing pads for the past year.  We are confident in their ability to hold our pad in place under what would normally be considered as adverse conditions, allowing that the downdraft is approx 180 miles per hour"
John King, Managing Director, Linear Guidance Illumination.
