we are off to France next Wednesday and going through a list of things that need doing when realised the groundsheet still had not been cleaned from our last trip 3 weeks ago. While the weather is nice I have tried to give it a good clean but is it just me or do they never look that clean close up. Going to hose it down again and see. If not might be time for a new one. Sorry for the winge.

Hi we have just returned from a fortnight in cornwall and we came home without our groundsheet because it was totally thick with mud BUT we could be trading in our cabanon saturn for a stratos, so wether it's a new tt or a new groundsheet we are going to buy those plastic decorating protective sheets to use under the groundsheet for when it's not to good underfoot. I believe when we last decorated they were only about a pound or two.

 we've got the friendly and unfriendly type groundsheets and use them according to what we find underfoot when we pitch. You sharp learn to read the ground after waking up to find a small stream running thro the awning.

When ours get clarty we throw them over the washingline and introduce them to the hosepipe, mop and children guaranteed clean everytime with free waterfight and smiles too.

HI Mizzy, we have wilkinsons stores up here but any good DIY store should sell them. Can't believe I have never thought of it before, its nice when i can surprise still myself.

Hi Cyril,

you need about five and a half meters of groundsheet to line a pullman awning in the standard width.

Yes the site will see what you've had down after you've gone but its the same footprint that a tent leaves and a good site manager rotates his pitches anyway.

Churning a pitch into a bog is worse than turning a bit of grass yellow which will be green again in 48 hours. The trick is to read the ground and change the groundsheets if its drying out  Better still use a couple of large straw beach mats, they absorb the dampness and breath too. And are also a lot cheaper than eco sheet even if they do only last a couple of seasons

We only use our awning for the two week Summer holidays and as such never felt the need to use a groundsheet in awning much prefer the feel of grass underfoot.
