Hi folks,

This is my first posting to UKCS and have returned to camping after many years away.

1972  Got married and took wife camping to the Lake Disrict for our honeymoon (is she spoilt or what? Went in a 2 man tent (a blacks Tinker tent still got it) and it rained.

1075 Bought a ridge tent

1980 Had kids bought a frame tent

80's went Eurocamping in tents

then mobile homes then cottages and gites

and now 2007 back to 'roughing it' under canvas  A Camplet TT

Went to France this year and it rained. Also went to UK and it rained. Was this a replay of our honymoon?

Im sure youve all got plenty of tips and advice.

Buy a large gazebo. Park your trailer tent under it and erect it from there?

Alternatively, ditch the TT and find a B&B?

Sorry, nothing we can do about the weather!

Same thing happened to me when I bought a astronomical telescope - overcast every night for a week when I most wanted to use it!

Could you just camp away from us? Rained on our honeymoon and the next year it snowed in June! Why we didn't give up I'll never know.

we went away last wednesday 22 in a large group and being a reg reader on here i picked up loads of tips which was fantastic i was prepared for every event i even made teh trip more relaxing and clam by taking little luxuries i had not thought about taking before all of which came in very hand (over the door shoe holder for storing bits,  cloths rail,) our trailer tent was tidy and organised it was fantastic BUT after chosing a flat pitch that was away from any dips that could flood it rained!! cats and dogs we had a river running  throught the tent........ but i was still prepared we were out there with a bright pink childs spade digging a gully to take the flow of water from under our tent and away luckly this worked a treat until it flooded a friends tent out

;-( luckly it only rained for  a few hours and it was a fantastic break!
