When in October are you thinking of going? At the beginning of October the weather can be very good, with fine clear days, but a bit chilly over night so as long as you take the heater it'll be fine.
We are off next Monday for a week, on our first outing in the Sovereign and we too also hope to get away for a weekend in October before winter sets in.
Never stop-barring Xmas -an if Abbey Wood had vacancies would go then, will be at the Eden Camp meet in December, back up to York in Feb, will see how funds are in Jan-don,t know why I,m thinking like that, you to eat at home an surely its cheaper with the time and temperature our lass has the c/h ting on !!l ol
Isnt that just one of the best things about this site? If you wait a while someone else asks the very question you want to ask. I was going to ask when everyone stops going away for the winter and when they start again in spring. We have never yet braved the months between October and April but, considering the summer we just didnt have, we may well be inspired to carry on.
Thanks everyone.

We're going to scotland in october and don't intend to stop after that. We're planning on a Christmas in the van, we never have a 'traditional Christmas dinner' after all, it's only a glorified sunday lunch! We always have a themed Christmas and this year it will be a BBQ on site!
i just cant imadgine getting my family out camping when theres frost on the ground i think they would leave me. mind you i have noticed most campsites down here (hampshire) close in october so i dont know where we could go after that
dose anyone know of any other nice sites in hampshire especially the new forest? we keep going to the forest hoilday sites but to be honist its quiet pricey!
it cost us £127 for 4 nights last time and £48 pound for two night this time and its going to be low season

Don't go away as much in the winter months - only once a month usually over Dec Jan & Feb. Will be winding down to twice a month for Oct & Nov after being away every weekend for 3 months.
The advantage of a trailer tent is that you sleep off the ground so it is much warmer than a tent, and with so many sites having EHU pitches available all year round I don't find it any colder in my Combi-camp than in the caravan.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
we use ours all winter and we dont have heating, hot water or a toilet but life is for camping not sitting at home waiting for the sun to shine plus you can always get a plug in heater.
Have had a 1991 Pennine Pullman for six weeks and love it. Have survived monsoon weather in Edinburgh (18 August) and tropical sunshine in the South East, so far.
Now thinking of taking her up to Scotland, Fort William, for the October week;s holiday. Am I mad?
Which is the best site Ben Nevis C&CC or the CC site? There will be myself, 13 yold son and dog. Biking, walking etc
Taking a heater and maybe electric blankets, porta loo in awning and kettle for hot water, thats if I have the water fixed by then!
