have looked at multiple folding caravans / trailer tents / dandys???????? on ebay, and was wondering is ti possible to get an older (read cheaper here) one with a toilet compartment or space to add one. as we would like to not have to put an awnign up but the missis is adamant that a toilet is a must.
Loads of folk buy anything apart from the Challenger or Fiesta or Apollo and put a Porta potti in the space near the door between the fridge and cupboard, if you are asking for a spot to locate it during the night. Personally I'm not too fond of either watching or being watched but......... Check for older Pathfinders and Crusaders. Uncertain of the Dandy/Riva model which comes with the washroom.
we have a 1982 esterel supermatic folding caravan. this one has a seperate toilet compartment. the 2 dandys that i owned did not have, i would not go back to the loo in the middle of the trailer on a night. it was a pain on the "one or two nights out" as i could not be bothered setting up the awning for that length of time. many people use a small "toilet tent". each to their own. keep looking and something will turn up. i bought my esterel off ebay and i love it.
agree with pennine plodder, we put the portaloo in the doorway for over night use. during the day, if we don't have the awning up, it sits on one of the beds out of the way.
when we are at a Camping & Caravanning Club rally, we have a toilet tent that houses the loo.

We have a Challanger (small) and if we havent put the awning up put the loo inside at night (lives in the underbed bit during the day) its no prob not as tho OH gonna sit staring at me having a whizz, mind you if he has one I moan about his aim, lol
When some of you say put the toilet in the doorway ,do you use it with the door open or closed? .
Well i dont know do I.
when we have the loo in the doorway it's only over night - saves unzipping and zipping up a few zips in the middle of the night - so the door would be closed.

Whatever floats your boat..... but I think you need a license for flashing.... on the other hand - I suppose it's somewhere to dangle your legs, while contemplating the moonlight....
well i made the plunge and have picked up a 198??? bonair 850, she is filthy and has been stood for a while but everything ahs been wiggled and checked and put up again, and she seems sound. i have also been given a large bootful of "extras" so i can see my weekends being spent tinkering. ( im begining to think my missis doesnt want a camper at all and its to keep me out of trouble). the plan is im going to rebuild the interior so it looks a bit less dated.
The doorway works well for overnight, but keep the door shut. We also considered a toilet tent for daytime. This saves having to put the awning up. Then we realised we went to the site loos during the day and the potti at night so saved the money.
...there seem to be quite a few combicamp plus models that have the permanent annex attached - ideal as an en suite as they have a drop down curtain for privacy - and it has plenty of room for clothes storage etc too if you use it for that - some use it as a kitchen area as its well ventilated.....
