I have been offered first refusal on a friends dandy. She doesn't know much about it other than it is 5 berth and brown and cream, but it comes with cooker, sink, awning and all the electrics.

My problem is that she wants me to make an offer rather than her tellilng me a price and I haven't a clue what to offer! Obviously I want it as cheap as possible but don't want to take the pi$$ and offer silly money.

Any ideas folks, either as to what this dandy is or how much to offer?

Many thanks

well i know nothing about these to be honest, but generally speaking brown and cream colours would suggest to me that its a 1980's dandy, you could look on ebay to see if thats right and get a rough idea on price i would of thought around £500-£700 at this time of year, but that would just be a guess,im sure somebody on here has more of a clue than me.

Just hate it when people ask you to make an offer..do you pitch low and risk offending them or do you pay too much so you do not seem "tight"? especialy hard if you have no real idea of the value of the item on offer.........

Having bought and sold a few mid 80's Dandys I would say at this time of year that £550.00 would be a good price..my last one was bought for £450.00 in v.good condition but without electrics this time last year...mind you I sold an older one in summer for £875.00..but this was helped by a bit of a bidding war on e.bay...

So my advice is to try an offer of £500.00 bearing in mind that you will save her the hassle of advertising it and putting up with the muppets who just want a day out and be nosy at the same time..in the mean time have a good look around the unit..is there any heating?any liners?are the tyres and jockey wheel ok?check the chassis just behind the suspension points as this can be a weak point, have a look at the lower door section and check that the wood is not spongy..is it winterised ie: are the side walls double skinned? I know that when buying from a friend it can be difficult to check these things without causing offence but these items can be checked without making it too obvious!!...good luck and hope we can soon welcome you to the world of Dandys!
