Hi paradise

I think the colour looks more like ours (Stratos). Don't know whether you have seen it but there is a Stratos on Ebay at the moment based in Chester. We got ours second hand (2 weeks old, they had used it for 2 nights). We had always said we wouldn't do this but it was in Manchester so close enough to go and have a look and just walk away if no good. We ended up getting a real bargain they had literally gone out and bought everything you would need (even down to toilet rolls!). They had never been camping before and hated it! We saved over £1000

THE MERCURY IS NOT THE REPLACEMENT FOR THE STRATOS IT IS THE BIGGER BROTHER TO IT, IT IS THE SAME COLOUR BEIGE AS THE STRATOS BUT INSTEAD OF THE NICE BLUE IT IS A THROWBACK TO 1970 AND IS CHOCOLATE BROWN NICE IF YOU STILL THINK SLADE ARE COOL BUT NOT FOR ME ILL STICK WITH THE SRTATOS

Saw the Mercury at the NEC on Sunday. Looked nice. It is the same size as the Stratos but has a smallish high area on one side for the kitchen unit. The Stratos will in future only come a the L i.e. no kitchen. The Neptune is the same as the Mecury except 0.5 m wider.

Talked to one person who loved their Stratos with the only fault being that a cold breeze can get in where the A-frame meets the trailer - they throw some cushions down there.

The Stratos/Mercury was at the top of our list until we saw the new Raclet Safari. Show special of £3745 incl brake, corner steadies, sun canopy, 200l box, one underbed tent, jockey wheel, spare, slatted beds saving £900 of the rrp. The safari is is the same design as the Stratos but is wider and higher, looks nicer and is cheaper. The awning is (I am quite sure) all canvas unlike the Stratos. The ground sheet is fully enclosed unlike the Stratos which is loose as the trailer tent side - the Safaris zips all the way around with a step over at the door/front. Colours are nice also. See here for a look http://www.raclet.fr/pdf/Raclet2008.pdf.

We also visited the NEC on Friday intending to buy a Stratos, but was told now without the kitchen. We did buy the Mercury due to the price of £3295.00 and the 3 poles that you have to contend with to put it up.

We did look at the Raclet but noticed the extra poles that came from the trailer. The trailer part looked very odd being square compared to the awning being domed.

Cabanon has designed the Stratos, Mercury & Neptune for easy erecting with wind straps attached to sides & front, this is what we need due to back problems. Erecting time 30mins to an hour, great more drinking time.

Relating to the colour's I thought is was quite classie 2 tone brown with black paneling.

Anyway at the end of the day it's up to the individual/s, we liked it, we brought it, we collect it soon. After losing our Atlantis last year to winds (gale force) and only owning it for 3 months i'm so excited and cant wait to collect our new one. Dawlish he we come.
