Hi all,

I want to fit a bike rack to the rear of my 2002 Cruiser. Pennine do a rear mounted (factory fit) one that I want to copy.

As an engineer I asked Pennine for the mounting info etc and was told they don't have it ?????????

Anyone got any pics so that I can make my own and modify my unit for the mountings please?

Thanks

Yes, thats the one.

I've seen them around for a couple of years now so maybe there is an older model?

we have one of these fitted to our Sterling, havent actually used it though so cant really comment too much.

however, it is made up from two uprights which hold the bike(s), that fit into two brackets welded in the corners of the bed support.  ours also has a socket underneath the camper to plug a lighting board into as the bikes will obscure the number plate and lights.

hope that helps?

Sorry to but in.

I am also looking for photos for one for my sunncamp 350se. This is the bike rack that goes on top of the trailer.

Would like pic's of any type of top mounted bike rack, not just Sunncamp as I am going to build one for the summer. This would be a great help to me.

 Thank's in advance

Watch your max weight for your suspension.  Make sure the trailer has the spare capacity to carry the extra load.  Rear mounted ones especially will alter the balance towards the back.  Make sure you still have some nose weight.

Post some pics too, would be good to see how this could be done.

Steve

I would go with Steve McV's comments,Bike racks on the rear of any trailer would significantly change the nose weight. If you need to carry bikes look into putting them onto a rack on top of your towing vehicle first. if this isn't feasible, is there room for a rack on the rear of the towing vehicle. If there's not enough room there then over the axle on top of the camper, remembering the extra weight may be above the maximum weight of your trailers suspension. You may get some advice from Pennine, they may also be able to tell you the maximum weight the trailer can carry and why the 2 accidents happened with the the racks they withdrue,

For what it's worth I have a Sunncamp 400se and have gone for the Fiamma twin bike mount on the A-frame.  The balance is not affect rearwards and the bikes fit neatly on the rack allowing us to unfold the camper without taking them off.  We simply lower them forward a couple of notches on the adjustable rack to allow us to access the main tent frame without getting grease on the canvas.  Works fine, and tows exactly the same as without bikes mounted.  Cost about 40 quid i think.

Sounds good.  Post some pictures please.  What does it do to the noseweight?

Steve.
