Hi, we a re thinking of buying a 6 berth combicamp, the one with the extra sleeping area attached.

Is there much room in the trailer for tables, chairs and kitchen unit etc. if the awning is also stored in the trailer?

Can the awning be left attached (after removal of the poles) when packing away?

Is it easy to attach an A frame storage box, and how much are they from Combicamp?

Thank you

There isn't a 6 berth. The best is a squeezed in four berth and a dark and dismal extra sleeping bit. They cost an arm and a leg. You have to cook in the rain unless you put the awning up. A Danish friend of ours sniggers when he thinks of what they cost. Apart from that they're perfect.

I'll wait for the flak.

We now have a Combi-Camp Panda, and bought a Universal annex to give an extra sleeping area.  We fold it away with the awning and annexe attached.

The Panda has a kitchen unit attached to the back of the trailer, so we don't need to store that inside, however we manage to fit loads inside the folded trailer

Have a look at this thread on the Combi-camp owners' forum to see what we all pack inside ours!

There is a six berth - I have one! Its light and spacious

yes there is room for all you mention, and yes you can leave the awning attached - just fold it over the main unit before folding it up. You can cook inside the cabin esp if it is a 6 berth, personally I prefer not to so I usually have either awning or suncanopy  up. Mine came with a box but I know peeps who have attached their own (I think bordercaz did). I think the ones from mangine are expensive but there are alternatives

Have a look on ebay to get an idea of the different sorts & don't listen to sniggers from Danish friends!

I love our Combi Camp.  We have a Venezia which is a 4 berth but you can add a side annex which sleeps 2 more kids.  The Venezia has telescopic poles which easily slide into the unit so when folding it up we keep the awning roof attached, fold it back over the camper and slide the poles in.  Putting it up is also really easy.  It takes about 2 minutes to put up the main cabin and a further 5 minutes to put up the awning roof and another 5 minutes if you want to zip on the awning sides.  We use it in 3 different ways.  For overnight stops we just use the main cabin, for weekends or short breaks we put up the main cabin and the awning roof so that we have shelter to cook under and for longer holidays we put up the main unit and full awning.  You can store a massive amount of stuff inside the unit when it is folded down.

I take it you've never owned one, or even really looked at one, then, Alan, judging by your mis-informed comments.

The modern Combis are not dark and dismal - you'd have to go back to late 70s for an all over brown one for that.

The basic unit can be either 4 berth or one massive 2 berth. An annexe can be put on the side to give another double berth, another can be put on the back if you need it, so it will accomodate a family of 8 or 9. You can also add an annexe or two to the awning if that's not enough.

The awning is a lot easier and quicker than a caravan awning to put up, but you can just use it as a canopy or as protection over the kitchen if you wish. They are expensive, but you get what you pay for and a well looked after Combi will last many years. Mine is a mid 80s model and still has years left in it. Also, compare the cost to other folding campers and they look positively frugal.

You can get a front box from the dealer, but they are pricey. I got a large plastic box from a local agricultural merchant for the front of mine.

In addition to the amount of stuff you can store inside the trailer, there is a large rack on the top which carries loads of gear.

You don't have to cook in the rain, if you don't want to have the full awning up.  The awning can be up in 3 different ways.  You can have it as a kitchen canopy, in which the roof is folded in half with only the roof poles half extended without the feet.  Or as the sun canopy with the roof out fully, but without the sides and front zipped on - this arrangement would be support with the feet.  I've had both these arangements when it's been raining and didn't get wet!

The family versions with the annex are 6 berths.  Combis can be expensive as in the newer model, but only because they are good quality and easy to put up, with a fitted kitchen.

Keep an eye out on ebay, preloved or the combicampers forum, you can pick up good second hand ones like I did!
