That is absolutely awful about the little lad. My sympathies to the bereft parents.
As for the roof off your caravan, I know the Teversal site. The staff there are absolutely wonderful, nothing is too much trouble for them.
I was there in February (remember it being -5C) but it was windy then as it is at the top of a hill. I use the "awning straps" mentioned by another member, and they are a handy piece of kit if the wind threatens to cause damage.
I have been out on an exposed hillside, with a Dandy, took down the awning, and threw the straps over the Unit. No problem at all, she weathered everything thrown at her.
Commiserations to the people who have had their caravan destroyed.
