Having found that a new underbed tent from conway/TVS/ pennine is around £50,

I wondered if a single skin pop up tent will fit under the bed on my classic trio

forget the cheap ones from Argos, got one and is not a patch on the conway one.

No idea about the pop-up idea, but just wanted to say I agree 100% about the ones Argos sell...they're Sunncamp ones, yes? You could spit peas through them. I only hope they aren't the same ones as are supplied with SunnCamp trailer tents!

Sometimes second hand undertents come up on Ebay, btw. Even the older version Conway ones, with the brown base , are better than SunnCamp ones.

We bought one of the pop up tents, not sure if one would go under the trailer tent bed.  We had fun with it as we could't put it away once we had opened it. They will fold back to the original size but we just could't do it what ever we did, it kept springing open.

My brother got one of the pop up tents from Millets - he goes off on his own doing photograph - he is very pleased with his. Just enough room for him to sleep and easy to put up. Am going to borrow it this year to go under one of the beds on our dandy to see how we go space wise. If anyone else has done this would like to know how they got on.

Asda have single skin 2 man tents for £9.48 that look like they will be ideal as underbed tents. Their 98cm high by 198cm long by 134cm wide. At that price it's worth taking a chance and buying a couple.

You know, I've been chewing the idea around as to why using a single-skin pup tent as an undertent might not work. And I came up with the condensation factor. Inner tents in TTs are cotton and they breathe. Outer synthetic skins tend to hold water vapour and certainly in the case of small, poorly ventilated tents they can end up dripping inside with condensation. Would this not cause problems?

However if you wanted a cheap tent to try this theory out, Millets do a dirt cheap single skinner at £6.99.

Thing is, I'm sure if you had an inner from an old pup tent you could do a little bit of sewing to reduce the dome shape, lower the roof an stitch on the necessary hanging loops.

Just done the same thing. Bought a Quechua 2 second pop-up, great! Only thing, we have yet to get it to 'pop-down'. We get it down to a large sphere, but no way is it small enough to fit back into the bag. I have watched the instruction video on YOUTube numerous times, and know it off by heart, but no way will the bottom loops get small enough.  Any idea where we are going wrong?

We bought it so our teenage son can sleep in it inside the awning of our Jamet TT whist me, DH, and 2 younger boys are in the main cabin.
