To caravan or not to caravan . That was the question!                              242reads

Well everyone, thank you all for your input into my dilema.

I took my family along to our 2 local outdoor showrooms and  my wife (closely suported by the family) made the decision on the very first caravan we viewed. A 2008 Bailey Pageant Loire. (does anyone know of a bank that has a habit of leaving it's door open at night perhaps??).

Only one thing concerned me and that was the ridiculously low figure they offered as a trade in price on my immaculate  top spec 2005 Pennine Pathfinder with full canvas awning etc (4.8k) when they are selling older lower spec models for 7-8k.. I appreciate that  they want to make a profit on the pathfinder but this was ridiculous,. So mine is going up on a private sale this next week.) Edward advises -they didnt want my pathfinder hence the low offer they made) Most probably correct.

I might knock 2k off my offer for their caravan, and see what they say !!

Anyway  I now need to find a good full awning for the Bailey Loire. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

I don't think caravan places want second hand foloding campers. Ours a 2003 is insured for £6500 with the motor mover so yours should be worth more. Advertise it on the owners club as well as on here.

I think in the current climate 4800 from a dealer was not to bad as highbridge are selling new 08 pfinders with free awning for 9100. Thay would lok to make 2000 on a deal like that. I think you are wise to go down the private route though.

Best wishes simon
