I don't know enough about ground tents to help but i'm sure somebody using this site will, but I am positive if you give camping a fair chance you and your family will love it. Welcome to the site.

your best bet would be to visit a camping shop with a large display.
two points the tents are empty so in your mind fill it with tables chairs and the cooker etc then get one double the size!
nice on a sunny day the kids are playing outside but they soon get under your feet when space is tight and its raining a bedroom of their own lets them play out of the way

they are not going to be dragged outside by some lunatic without you hearing! a couple of walls 1mm thick is by no means soundproof (as you will hear when the site goes quiet)
tunnels are pretty easy to put up even by yourself its just a case of putting the poles through each section one by one then lifting it concertina like into the air a couple of pegs each end keeps it up whilst you shuffle it about to get it rigid.tunnels also usually have the bedrooms one end living space in the rest so the kids are right next door

dont buy till you have seen it up those little figures you see in the bedrooms are Chinese and they know each other very well ,half the little Chinese people to get the real number of people it takes remembering most people dont lie like sardines but actually move in their sleep!

don buy a tent when the main door also forms a front canopy, and the front of the tent slopes backwards

because when it rains, you will have to zip the door down, and everytime you want to go in or out, the tent fills up with water

make sure you spend a bit more, and buy one with a seperate front conopy, so you can leave your door open in the rain,

its a big mistake people make when buying their first teny, i did it

weve now progressed to a tt, its up in 5 mins, and no guy ropes
