Hi just wonddered if anyone has used theirs on a site that states breathable groundsheets only? because the stratos has a zip in groundsheet so (allinone) would a campsite refuse to have you on their sites because its not breathable?
Tents and TTs are not normally included in the Breathable Groundsheet rule. This is because in a TT or tent the awning is an integral part of your living space, unlike a caravan awning. According to the two big clubs (Caravan Club and the Camping & Caravan Club) anyway.
I think that would go double for ZIGs, because they don't have stormflaps to use under a loose groundsheet so how could you fix the edges down?
I would think the rule is for awnings that are a add on to the unit ie caravan awning and not something that is a integral part of the unit such as a TT as its all part of the unit me thinks ......

I have also heard that tents/TTs are not included in this rule as they are part of your living area. Anyway normal tents would not have a choice to even zip their ground sheets off as they are fixed so why should TTs be any different zip or no zip!
It's an interesting one, we haven't had a problem with our STratos yet - another question is... is the living area living area or an awning, therefore chargeable. I have had it both ways, know which way I prefer!
We had our Stratos last year and took it to sites that asked for breathable groundsheets. We didn't have any problems and our awning was just counted as part of our tent, so no extra charge or problems with groundsheets.
I think it would be very hard to put the Statos up without its SIG, as it provides some of the tension to keep the awning poles in place.
Why tell the site owners it could be zipped out? If you get there and they are eagle-eyed enough to notice it can be zipped out, tell them it is integral to the design and cannot be put up without it, just like a normal tent. It only zips out for ease of set up, and it is the living space, not an awning. If they still argue with you after this, set the wife on them!!
