We are starting to think about a Trailer tent. This is our wish list.

A trailer that is not too big.

We only need one bedroom.

Kitchen would be good.

Require awning for extra space.

Sewn in ground sheet.

Quick and easy to erect.

Any ideas anyone? Experiances anyone?

Let's hear it for the Combicamp, and the Raclet Solena, and Raclet Allegra. They tick all the boxes except the sewn-in groundsheet. But they can all be used without an awning for overnights. The main bit flips over and is ready in seconds on all three.

You won't go wrong with a Combicamp or any like them.  I'd love one so just me and the dog can clutter off for a quiet weekend  I think I'm right in saying even fairly small cars can easily pull them. 

Another plus is you have the option of awning on or off and I don't think it's beyond one person putting it all up either.

How about a Cabanon Venus? You can add a pod to the awning at a later date if you need more space.

For quickness the Combicamp is great and there are usually a few cheapish ones on ebay so you could buy one and try it out before you commit yourself to spending too much money.

Yes, they can be pulled by quite small cars but the modern Combis are quite heavy so need to be braked, older ones are lighter and don't usually have brakes  - beware of very low limits on some small cars for towing unbraked units. My old Combi is 450 Kgs and unbraked, too heavy for some cars e.g. Daihatsu Sirion 1.1

Mine is easy to put up - on my own! - 5 mins for the main unit (including detatching it from the car - and about 20 mins for the awning.- but I don't really need that if I'm on my own, and with son to help it's even quicker..

Not sure if you will be able to get one with a sewn in ground sheet.

We had the same thoughts as you last year. We had a Kham XL Classic with Annex. It was really easy and quick to put up but we liked the idea of a comfortable bed off the ground and a permanent kitchen.

After reading lots of posts on this site we narrowed it down to a Combicamp a Camplet or  a Dandy. After seeing demos of the Camplet and Combicamp and watching a video of erecting a Dandy we finally decided on a Combi.

We liked the small Trailer of the Camplet but the bed arrangement didn’t suit us. We liked the raised floor area and the kitchen in The Combi. (This is as good if not better than a SIG) We also liked the way the awnings can be zipped on or off as required with the telescopic poles always ready for use.

We liked the Dandy but decided it would take too long for us to put up.

We looked all summer for a used Combi but finally in September 07 bought an Ex Demo Venezia with the King size bed. We also bought the full height awning that fits over the tow bar. We intend to use this for Wardrobe/storage/en-suite (porta potty &shower) if no EHU. 

We have only used it for 1 night so far but loved it. You will never find a larger or more comfortable bed in any TT or Caravan. We were concerned about the large size of the trailer but we have towed a smaller trailer and have been assured that it is easier to tow a larger one. We have a couple of weekends booked so far and 10 days in France in June so should be experienced Combicampers by the end of the year.

You don’t say what your budget is. If you want a king size bed and telescopic poles for the awning it has to be quite new. A new Combi is quite expensive but I think (hope) they hold their value and last for a very long time.

you need a camplet, its all up in 3 mins, but no sown in ground sheet

all tt's have 2 beds, but we use the 2nd one for storage and the fridge, etc
