I've tried a couple of FCs but went back to caravans because I couldn't put them up on my own.

If it's just for more storage and facilities then go for the Pathfinder or Crusader which have bathrooms and lots of cupboards.

They are easier to tow and more fuel efficient so in these days of diesel & petrol prices spiralling out of control they make more sense if you can manage them.

Not all caravans have more comforts anyway - my little Freedom has no bathroom, fridge or oven, and I have to make the beds up every night.

Talking to tin tenter's most tend to use campsite showers and loo's as this saves carting water etc and there is usually more room in a campsite shower cubical.

Last year I made a small cupboard to hang on a wall and replaced a shelf unit with one of better dimensions so that it would hold our cups plates etc.

We have had 3 motorcaravans, 3 caravans, 3 tents and 2 folding campers and the folding campers are better on all counts than any of the others.

By comparison with a folding camper a 2 berth caravan  would be like living in a coffin. With beds to convert and make up twice a day and no room to swing a cat.

Regarding "bathrooms". We chose a Pullman and a porta loo rather than the Pathfinder as we have always prefered using onsite facilities rather than those in the caravans etc - saves steam and smells, water, emptying, embarassment and much better facilities.  The Pullman is also much easier to set up and is much lower weight with similar space.

We are selling our Pullman now as my wife is not able enough to enjoy camping. We use cottages and statics instead. Not quite as good but its ok.

Had everything from a small tent to a 3 bedroom static but have finally settled with a Folding Camper.  I hated towing a caravan - especially after one turned over on the M5 right in front of us.  Also hated putting up and taking down beds every day. A trailer tent was better but took too long to put up to use for weekends but the fc can be used with or without the awning, is easy to tow and goes in a garage. 

But for me, the deciding factor was that as soon as the caravan went off the front drive, I was advertising the fact that we were away from home.  Got burgled once and saw signs of attempted entry on several other occasions.  Caravan had to go!!

Blimey Ronni! Thats not good at all!  We would have to pay storage for a caravan, as we have no where to keep it at home, nearest site is £6 a week and well known for break ins as the site backs onto fields etc.

a folding camper, providing its the right size, will fit in the garage and no one will be any the wiser.
