Hi,

We have been looking for a cheap trailer tent/folding camper for a while now and have recently found a pennine pullman... unsure of year, but I guess 20 years old...

Canvas seems sound enough, a few repairs, but nothing to really bother us... inside the units look good and no really bad smells of damp...

But, there are two problems which are mentioned on the owners club we need answers to....

1: Although the door does close on the latch , it does not line up with the side of the camper when closed, there is a gap at the top.

2: Above the wheel arch on one side there is some filler.... when pressing around this area from outside it feel a bit soft, compared to the rest of the side....

and inside, at the same point the wood feels very much like a spongy material instead of solid wood... This area starts just behind the sink/hob unit and extends past the wheel arch for about a foot or so... I'm guessing this is rotten, but cannot really see whats going on behind the 'sticky back plastic' which lines all of the interior (original covering for the wood).

On the opposite side above the wheel arch there is a very small pliable area, but nowhere near as bad as the other side.

The camper is a very good price, comes with many 'extras' but are these problems fixable, or should we leave this one ?

Thanks for any help!

This is just the same as damp in caravans. It can be sorted but is time consuming. Folding campers are not particularly prone to damp so personally unless it is really cheap I'd keep looking. You can take the plastic off and the trim at the top and get into the wall. I imagine you would have to take out the kitchen unit and relevant bed box to get to it.

I am looking for a folding camper, but i think I'll wait until the camping season is over. There are a lot at exorbitant prices at the moment.
