We've just paid £2800 for a 2005 ChevernyGL! That seems like a lot compared to you. Was yours a private sale? Ours was from Camperlands and came with a 12 month guarantee. We've used it once and it is in absolutely perfect condition - so much so that the guy from Camperlands said he's seen brand new TTs in worse nick. It came with a few extras: Under bed stores (still in wrapper), 3 plug electric hook up (never used), 1.7m extension, jockety wheel.

Despite the price difference I still think we got a good deal and would happily pay the same price again. If yours is in good nick then you've got an absolute bargain!

We found it a doddle to pitch and absolutely love it. Can't wait to get out again - hopefully this weekend if the weather holds.

Hi Applemac, I knew there was something else I wanted to say - try to avoid using a box. The guy from Camperlands gave us this advice saying that it makes it MUCH easier to pitch and pack away and after doing so ourselves I totally agree with him. It would certainly greatly hinder pegging the back of the folding part and lifting the canvas over the frame for packing away would be really difficult with a box IMO. We have packed so much into the TT itself now that we could easily go away for a fortnight and pack everything else in the boot so we simply don't need a front box.

As far as the extension goes I don't think it would cause site problems. Most sites we stay at only want to know if you unit is greater than 7m, which I don't think the  Cheverny is even with the extension.

We didn't use it this time out as we were only staying for one night to try it out. We have decided that we won't use it for weekends and short breaks but will use it for stays of a week or more. I do think that with a young family the more space the better and while I have no doubt that the Cheverny is big enough on its own I think we'll appreciate that bit more space when we're taking bikes and scooters and the kitchen sink! I wouldn't spend too long searching for one if I were you but if the opportunity comes along I wouldn't turn it down.

Where are going in 3 weeks time? Are you following us to Ireland?
