Well, it's in the Highway Code not to balk other traffic unduely and to pull over if safe to allow faster traffic past you. And is does mean the world is a safer place for you if the purple faced idiot that's chewing the steering wheel in frustration behind you gets to go past and go far, far away........

So it's not just a matter of courtesy, it's legality and self-preservation too......

Andy don't agree with you here sorry - it worse for the driver to try and keep a vehicle you've bought with the power to tow at 60mph to a steady 30 mph for the next 9miles with a cop car behind you !!!

However I do know what you mean its totally unrealistic in perfect road conditions to have to stay at 30mph especially in modern cars - luckily we only had the police car behind us but we would normally pull over if we had to travel this slow where it was safe to do so if we had a queue of traffic beind us.
